The download wizard in your
Remote Backup of Alpha Star
Computer LLC Software will guide
you through building your
account and installing the
Remote Backup of
software on your PC. Completion
of all information on the setup
is necessary to correctly finish
the setup.
At the end of the installation
you will be asked to save the
Encryption Key. IT IS
CRITICAL that you save the
Encryption Key to a secure
location - either on a floppy
disk stored in an offsite
fireproof safe or by printing
the key and storing it in a safe
place. Without the USERNAME,
PASSWORD AND ENCRYPTION KEY,
Remote Backup of Alpha Star
Computer LLC will not be able to
retrieve your stored information
- we do not keep a copy of it.
To locate the data that you
want to back up, open the
Remote Backup of alpha star
computer LLC software and and
look at the left window. Locate
the files or folders that you
want to backup. Right-click on
the file or folder and select
'include' Selecting a folder
will automatically include any
subfolders and files located in
that folder. The files selected will be transferred in the
backup. From Schedule -> Backup
Schedule you can select the
frequency of the Backup Set that
you have created. From the
Backup Set dropdown box select
the backup set you want to
schedule. On the left of the
window you select either Daily,
weekly or Monthly backups. Next
to that is the day of the week
you would like to run the backup
(Daily backups run every day and
do not use this function). After
the days have been selected, and
select the time of day that you
wish the backup to run. This is
in military time ( 1:00 pm =
13:00, 4:00 pm = 16:00, etc.)
below that is the Attempt
window, set this function for
that maximum amount of time you
want the backup set to try and
begin - useful if you
accidentally shut the computer
off or your internet connection
is down. Usually 1 hour is
plenty for this setting. After
the backup schedule is complete,
click on 'Apply', once the
Backup set is saved - Apply will
turn into a 'Close' Button.
Click Close to close the window
or select another Backup Set
from the drop down list to
modify another backup. A
Backup Set is a list of
files and folders to be backed
up at a scheduled time. Multiple
Backup Sets are possible and
recommended for large amounts of
data ( Over 3 Gigabytes at one
time).
